About Us
Dan, a native of Yuma, was raised on a ranch and a farm. He has been riding and training horses since he was a small boy. He has been competing in the arena in team roping and calf roping and was very competitive in bull riding during high school and college. Dan and wife Kindi have been married since 1979. Kindi, also a native of Yuma, was raised on a farm and she has had a love for horses her whole life. She also has helped break and train horses as well as compete in team roping and barrel racing. Amber, the oldest daughter, and Mallori both were raised riding horses of all ages and doing a lot of ranch work.
Dan and Kindi imprint their colts at birth and again at weaning. At 2 or 3 (depending on the horse) they break them. All the horses are run in a round pen and driven before they are ridden. After they join up and are saddle broke they are then ridden. All the horses get a lot of cattle work when they are started and will continue that while they are on the ranch. When they are 4-5 years old they are then introduced to a specific event that they will hopefully compete in.
Dan and Kindi try to keep the jobs the horses do fun for them and do a lot of different things on them so they don't get burnt out. They also get their horses gentle, light mouthed, and leg broke so that usually any level of rider can ride their horses. Dan's and Kindi's philosophy is: "if the horse likes what it is doing and you treat it with respect, then it will in turn do a good job for you and respect you".
